Ezekiel 39:25-29

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

“Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will now bring back Jacob from captivity and will have compassion on all the people of Israel, and I will be zealous for my holy name. They will forget their shame and all the unfaithfulness they showed toward me when they lived in safety in their land with no one to make them afraid. When I have brought them back from the nations and have gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will show myself holy through them in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind. I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

– Ezekiel 39:25-29

Devotion

Once again, we see the promise that God would restore His people and have mercy on the whole house of Israel. In that day of restoration, they would be sanctified by God as they exalt and recognize the Sovereign Lord. His face would no longer be hidden from them, and He would pour out His Spirit on them. They would finally be a kingdom of priests that would exalt and glorify the only true and eternal God. In the end, God’s holy name is going to be vindicated. God is holy. The will of God will prevail, and our proper position is to bow before Him. This is His universe, this is His earth, and He is running it according to His perfect plan.

The Big Question

Throughout the book of Ezekiel, God is referred to as the Sovereign Lord. In His sovereignty, He has put a plan of restoration in place for Israel and for the entire world. In Revelation chapter twenty-one we read, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God.” As this world spirals out of control, it is so encouraging to see that God is still on the throne and that one day He will restore everything back to its original beauty and purpose. How does this truth encourage you as you watch the world crumble around you? God is full of compassion and mercy! How does this truth impact your daily walk with Him?

Conclude your time in prayer and silence reflecting on what God revealed to you today.
