Job 19:7-12

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

“Though I cry, ‘I’ve been wronged!’ I get no response;
though I call for help, there is no justice.
He has blocked my way so I cannot pass;
he has shrouded my paths in darkness.
He has stripped me of my honor
and removed the crown from my head.
He tears me down on every side till I am gone;
he uproots my hope like a tree.
His anger burns against me;
he counts me among his enemies.
His troops advance in force;
they build a siege ramp against me
and encamp around my tent.

Devotion

Have you ever been chatting away on a phone call, only to realize that the call was dropped minutes ago? You suddenly realize that you have been talking to absolutely nobody for who knows how long! That is exactly how Job must have felt as he cried out to God and received no reply.

There are times in life when God feels distant. We need His presence more than ever, but we hear and feel nothing. It is important to remember that, even though we may not feel Him, God is still with us. He never leaves our side. At times God calls on us to trust Him even when we cannot sense his presence. When we do this, we experience an even closer relationship with Him as we walk in faith. When our ability to sense His presence returns, we enjoy it all the more.

The Big Question

Do you tend to doubt God’s presence when you face times of suffering? How can you remind yourself that He is there even when you do not feel Him?

Conclude your time in prayer and silence, reflecting on God’s Word.
