Proverbs 7:4-5

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call understanding your kinsman; they will keep you from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words.

– Proverbs 7:4-5

Devotion

In these verses, Solomon uses the relational analogies of “sister” and “kinsman” to illustrate the close relationship his son should have with wisdom and understanding. Solomon instructs that if he holds to this godly wisdom, he will be protected from the “wayward wife with her seductive words.” In the same way, we must be in close relationship with God’s Word and the wisdom it imparts. If we are to be protected from the temptations that we face daily, we must unite our hearts and minds with God’s Word.

The Big Question

Are you taking time out of every day to saturate your mind with God’s Word? Are you as familiar with God’s Word as you are with your family members? Ask God to reveal to you what you need to do in order for His Word to become an integral part of your thought processes.

Conclude your time in prayer and silence reflecting on what you have learned.
