Psalm 100

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful singing.
Know that the Lord Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His lovingkindness is everlasting
And His faithfulness to all generations.

– Psalm 100

Devotion

“Know that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”

One of Satan’s main strategies is to attempt to undermine our faith in God’s position as the all-powerful creator, THE GREAT I AM. If he can pull that off, his next tactic is to get us to doubt our own identity as God’s creations who are meant to serve Him. God is the author of life and, as His creations, we belong to Him. This “belonging” is not to a malevolent and capricious God, as Satan would us to believe, but to one who is gentle, caring, faithful and kind. We have the privilege of being “His people and the sheep of His pasture.” Shepherds care for their sheep.

The Big Question

How do you view your position relative to God? What can you do to cultivate a relationship with God where you see Him as your shepherd and yourself as a “sheep of His pasture”?
