2 Chronicles 15:10

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

They assembled at Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign. They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul. They took an oath to the Lord with loud acclamation, with shouting and with trumpets and horns. All Judah rejoiced about the oath because they had sworn it wholeheartedly. They sought God eagerly, and He was found by them. So the Lord gave them rest on every side. There was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa’s reign.

Devotion

Asa took courage after hearing this message from the Lord. He undertook further reforms, removing idol altars and restoring the Lord’s altar at the temple. To commemorate these reforms, he called for a national assembly to renew covenant loyalty with the Lord. Verse nineteen speaks of the favor God bestowed upon Asa and the kingdom of Judah for seeking Him with their whole heart.

The Big Question

The best years of our lives will always be those where we have been walking closely with the Lord. Those years contain wonderful experiences, but will certainly also contain suffering and trials. Yet, they will be years blessed by God’s presence and favor over us. The experience of these blessed years depends upon our attitude toward the Lord. What stage or season of life do you find yourself in today? Are you walking closely with the Lord at this time? If not, what must you do in order to draw near to God that He might draw near to you?

Spend some time in prayer meditating on what God has revealed to you through His Word today.
