2 Thessalonians 3:1-5

Spend time in prayer and silence with God, asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

In addition, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the Word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you, and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen and guard you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will continue to do what we command. May the Lord direct your hearts to God’s love and Christ’s endurance.

– 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5

Devotion

As Paul closes out this letter, he urges the Thessalonians to pray for him that the preaching of the Word in other places might be with power and victory. He affirmed his confidence in them and expressed his desire for their continual patience. In this passage, Paul focuses on the faithfulness of God. He points out that God is our source of strength when it comes to our battle against Satan. He closes out this section by reminding them to stay focused on two things: God’s love and Christ’s endurance. Paul is reminding his readers of the steadfast endurance Christ displayed and praying that they will reproduce the same.

The Big Question

What are you doing to make sure that the Word of the Lord is being honored in your spheres of influence? How are you living out God’s Word today? Are you able to persevere in the midst of trials and persecution? Are you relying on God’s strength to give you victory over sin and temptation? Have you experienced the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God?

Conclude your time in prayer and silence, reflecting on what God revealed to you today.
