2 Timothy 3:16-17

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Devotion

Yesterday we learned that checking with God should be the first step in the decision making process. Today we will look at the second step of the process: Check with God’s Word. In 2 Corinthians 10:5, we are instructed to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”. What is the criteria for this? What is the standard we use to check our own thought patterns? The revealed Word of God is God’s truth to us throughout the ages. In the decision making process, we must submit our thoughts to God’s revealed truth. If our thinking does not align with God’s Word, then we must adjust our thinking to bring it in alignment with divine truth.

The Big Question

Are you constantly checking your thinking against the Word of God? When faced with big decisions, do you consult God’s revealed truth? What big decisions are you facing today? Are you checking your thinking against the Word of God?

Spend some time in prayer meditating on what God revealed to you through His Word.
