Acts 1:6-8

Spend time in prayer and silence with God, asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

Then they gathered around Him and asked Him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom of Israel?” He said to them, “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” After He said this, He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid Him from their sight.

Devotion

The ascension of Jesus back to heaven occurred 40 days after the resurrection. This final appearance of Jesus occurred just 10 days before the Day of Pentecost. His final words were, once again, about the central mission of His followers: Spirit-empowered proclamation of Christ to the ends of the world, until the day that Jesus returns.

The Big Question

What does it mean to be Jesus’ witness to the world? Do you testify of Jesus through your actions? Do you testify of Jesus verbally? What would happen if one generation would break the link in the chain of proclaiming a resurrected Savior to the world? Who are your top 3?

Conclude your time in prayer and silence, reflecting on what God revealed to you today.
