Acts 16:6-10

Spend time in prayer and silence with God, asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

Paul and his companions traveled through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the Word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas. During the night, Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the Gospel to them.

Devotion

Being led by the Spirit of God, Paul and his companions made their way to Macedonia. It is important to note that twice the Holy Spirit stopped them from taking the Gospel to Asia and to Bithynia. We are not sure why the Spirit led them away from these two regions, but God had already laid the groundwork for the Gospel to be received in Macedonia. Being obedient to the Spirit, Paul and his companions would take the Gospel into the heart of the former Greek Empire.

The Big Question

Paul was sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. He allowed the Spirit to direct them on their journey. Do you take the time to pray and ask God for guidance along life’s journey? Are you sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit? Do you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you day by day?

Conclude your time in prayer and silence, reflecting on what God revealed to you today.
