Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

“But you, O mountains of Israel, will produce branches and fruit for my people Israel, for they will soon come home. I am concerned for you and will look on you with favor; you will be plowed and sown, and I will multiply the number of people upon you, even the whole house of Israel. The towns will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt. I will increase the number of men and animals upon you, and they will be fruitful and become numerous. I will settle people on you as in the past and will make you prosper more than before. Then you will know that I am the Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘On the day I cleanse you from your sins, I will resettle your towns and the ruins will be rebuilt. The desolate land will be cultivated instead of lying desolate in the sight of all who pass through it.'”

– Ezekiel 36:8-11,33-34

Devotion

Here we discover that God intends for the land of Israel is to be restored along with His people. The land and the people belong together. The Mosaic Law was not only given to a people, it was given for a land. In the end, God will restore everything including the land. This shows God’s passion for total restoration! God is a promise keeper! As a result of God’s deliverance, the whole land would be made abundantly fruitful. This is not just true for Israel. In Romans the eighth chapter, Paul writes, “The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.”

The Big Question

In Revelation, we read, “He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!” God’s heart is for total restoration! We along with the rest of creation wait in eager expectation for that day when everything will be made new. How does the fact that God’s desire is for total restoration encourage your heart today? How are you being made new through your faith in Christ? Are you a new creation in Christ?

Conclude your time in prayer and silence reflecting on what God revealed to you today.
