John 11:38-44

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. “Remove the stone,” Jesus said. Martha the dead man’s sister, told Him, “Lord, there is already a stench because he has been dead four days.” Jesus said to her, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You heard Me. I know that You always hear Me, but because of the crowd standing here I said this, so that they may believe You sent Me.” After He said this, He shouted with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out bound hand and foot with linen strips and with his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unwrap him and let him go.”

Devotion

Obviously from this chapter we learn that Jesus was a man of deep emotion. He felt deeply the loss that Martha and Martha were experiencing even though He knew what He was about to do. This greatest miracle performed by Jesus would truly communicate that Jesus has power over life/death. His claim to be “the resurrection and the life” now has some teeth behind it. This miracle would only pale in comparison to His own resurrection!

The Big Question

Does this settle the issue for you? What will you do with the claims of Jesus? Jesus said, “I am the bread of life, I am the light of the world, I am the gate, I am the good shepherd and I am the resurrection and the life.” Maybe it’s time to settle this debate in your own mind! Jesus is either a liar, a lunatic, or Lord! What will it be?

Conclude your time in prayer and silence, reflecting on what God revealed to you today.
