John 17:24-26

Spend time in prayer and silence with God, asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

“Father, I want those you have given Me to be with Me where I am, and to see My glory, the glory you have given Me because You loved Me before the creation of the world. Righteous Father, though the world does not know You, I know You, and they know that You have sent Me. I have made you known to them and will continue to make You known in order that the love You have for Me may be in them and that I Myself may be in them.”

– John 17:24-26

Devotion

As Jesus closes out His prayer for future believers, He expresses His desire that we will see the fullness of His glory and be present with Him throughout eternity. He also prays that we would “know” the Father as He knows the Father. He loves us so much that He wants us to know and experience the Father as He has throughout eternity.

The Big Question

How does it make you feel to know that Jesus prayed that you would be with Him and see His glory in heaven? This is a beautiful prayer that echoes the promise of Jesus in John chapter fourteen. He goes to prepare a place for us and one day He will return to take us to be with Him in His Father’s glorious kingdom. How does this encourage you today? How can we have this kind of hope even in the face of death?

Conclude your time in prayer and silence, reflecting on what God revealed to you today.
