Joshua 8:1-2

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking him to meet you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land. You shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king, except that you may carry off their plunder and livestock for yourselves. Set an ambush behind the city.

Devotion

The Canaanites were wicked people with no moral character at all. Rahab was a prostitute living in this environment who had the courage to hide the spies. She took the risk because she sensed the Israelites relied on a God worth trusting. God rewarded Rahab by promising safety for her and her family. God works through people like Rahab, whom we are often inclined to reject. God remembered her because of her faith not her profession.

The Big Question

Like Joshua not praying and asking God for wisdom before they attacked Ai, are there areas that you just “wing yourself” and expect God to bless? Ask God to reveal those areas to you.

Conclude in prayer and silence, reflecting on what you’ve learned.
