Mark 3:13-14

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to Him those He wanted, and they came to Him. He appointed twelve—designating them apostles—that they might BE with Him and that He might send them out to preach.

– Mark 3:13-14

Devotion

Jesus called His disciples to “BE” with Him. Through a process of observation, practice and evaluation, Jesus taught His disciples how to do ministry in His name and for His glory. As they were with Him, He trained them in specific skills. He was shaping their lives for His purposes. He is doing the same with us today! By studying Jesus’ training of His first disciples, we can learn some key principles about how Jesus wants to train us to be His disciples in our world today.

The Big Question

The main way Jesus’ disciples learned to do ministry was just by BEING with Jesus. Do you take time out of your busy schedule just to BE with Jesus? What does your daily time with Jesus look like? How is Christ currently shaping your life for His purposes?

Conclude your time in prayer and silence, reflecting on what God revealed to you today.
