Psalm 32:10-11

Many are the woes of the wicked,
but the Lord’s unfailing love
surrounds the one who trusts in him.

Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!

Psalm 51:12

Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Devotion

One of the other benefits that comes from honest confession is that a forgiven heart brings joy back into your life. Among all the Psalms, there is none which touches deeper things in the life of the soul or more perfectly reveals the method of God in sin, sorrow, and guidance than Psalm 32. He is ready to pardon, able to deliver, and willing to guide. Whoever you are and wherever you are, if you know the Lord Jesus as your Savior, you can lift up your heart in great joy to God despite your circumstances.

This confessional psalm (song) needs to be sung frequently. Confession needs to become a vital part of our daily disciplines. As we walk in a faith relationship with the Lord, it is important to keep short accounts. Confession is the tool that God has given us to get right and stay right with Him.

Questions to Ponder:

Is confession part of your daily discipleship toolbox? Are you keeping short accounts with God? Through this psalm, have you learned the value of confessing your sins quickly? What is the most important thing you learned from Psalm 32?

Prayer Points

  • Ask God to help you by His Holy Spirit to keep short accounts with Him throughout the day.
  • Ask the LORD who you can share the Psalms of Confession with. Rick shared that there are 7 Psalms of Confession in the bible. Use them as a “road map” in your bible. Start with Psalm 6, then read Psalm 32, 38, 51, 102, 130 AND 143.

Suggested Prayer
God, thank You so much for Your unlimited patience. Thank You for Your kindness that leads us into repentance. Thank You that You don’t want us to conceal or hide our sin but to run right to You asking for forgiveness. Thank You Lord that we all can be open, honest and raw with You. You will never say our sin was too much or tell us to go the other way. Instead You meet us with great compassion, mercy, and forgiveness. You forgive as far as the east is from the west. Oh Lord, please keep me and Your church in a posture of humility and understanding. Help us to know that our hearts are deceitful and wicked BUT You are good, gracious and kind. Thank You for Your grace. Thank You for the blood of Jesus Christ that has washed us and made us clean. Great is your faithfulness to me and great is Your grace! I worship and adore You LORD. In the Name of Jesus Christ, I pray these things. Amen.
