Numbers 23:19-20

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking him to meet you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

“God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill? I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot change it. ”

– Numbers 23:19-20

Devotion

Walking with God is no guarantee you will be free from opposition. Have you ever stepped out in faith to follow God only to discover that things don’t always go smoothly? Do not be discouraged! You will experience opposition because you are following God. Just look at the opposition Jesus experienced in His pursuit of doing the will of the Father. In Numbers chapters 22-25, Moses and the people of Israel encountered stiff opposition. Despite Israel’s many failures, there are were always those like Joshua, Caleb, or Phinehas who demonstrate the blessings that come from faith and obedience.

The Big Question

What do you do when following Jesus becomes tough and you feel as if the whole world is against you? How does knowing God’s character strengthen you and give you the resolve to keep on trusting Christ and walking in obedience?

Conclude in prayer and silence reflecting on what you’ve learned.
